About this experience
The sea walk is the easiest way to see the reef up close if you do not want to swim or dive. We take you from Havelock jetty at 9 am to the sea walk platform off Elephant Beach, about 25 minutes by boat. On the platform you get a 10 minute briefing: how the helmet works, how to clear your ears, and the three hand signals.
The helmet sits on your shoulders and is fed with air through a hose from the platform. You climb down a ladder to the seabed, 5 to 7 metres down, and walk for about 20 minutes along a rope line with a guide holding your arm. Fish come right up to the glass. You can keep your glasses on and your hair dry. The whole trip, jetty to jetty, is about three hours.
Rs 3,500 per person, including the boat, the helmet and the guide. Minimum age 10. Because you breathe compressed air at depth, the same medical questions as diving apply, and you should not fly within 18 hours afterwards. Photos and a short video from the seabed are extra, Rs 800, if you want them.
Before you book
One guide walks with each pair of guests and a second guide watches from the platform. There is a spare compressor on the platform. Maximum depth 7 metres. Clear your ears as you go down the ladder and signal the guide if they hurt; you come up, and there is no charge for stopping. We do not run the sea walk in a swell, and we tell you by 7.30 am if the day is off.

- The medical questions must all be answered no; ear, sinus, heart and lung problems and pregnancy rule the sea walk out
- No flight for 18 hours afterwards
- Wear swimwear under your clothes; you will be wet from the shoulders down
- Bring a towel and a change of clothes

Cancel 48 hours or more before your trip starts: full refund. Cancel 24-48 hours before: half refund. Inside 24 hours: no refund. If the operator or the weather cancels your trip, you are always refunded in full, automatically.
